Visual Echoes: A Dialogue with Inger Christensens Alfabet Archive
October 2024
Research-based & Publication Design
This project explores the Danish poet Inger Christensen’s creative process through an interpretive engagement with her archive, housed at the Royal Danish Library. Focused on drafts for her poem Alfabet, which integrates the Fibonacci sequence with the Latin alphabet, the project investigates the intersection of structure, nature, and fragility. Restricted by copyright limitations, I developed a visual, tactile publication that reimagines the archive rather than reproducing it. By using an interpretive and artistic approach, the project invites readers to imagine the archive, creating a dialogue between Christensen’s process and contemporary visual culture. The project also reflects on the broader potential of graphic design to engage with archival material, offering insights into how designers can interpret and present archival material.
