Visual Interpretation of Inger Christensen’s Sommerfugledalen, Sonnet 1

A visual experiment translating the first sonnet of Sommerfugledalen into a fragmented, dreamlike narrative. The work explores the vastness of nature, human smallness, and the impermanence of life through symbolic, abstract, and realistic imagery.

Video, illustration, and typographic elements contrast digital techniques with natural themes, while Christensen’s own reading anchors the experience. Looping sequences evoke transformation, from chaos to structure, cocoon to butterfly.

The following is storyboard, styleframes and the final video.
