Og så drunker jeg...2019
Book Design
As part of a project at the Academy, I designed a book cover for Og så drukner jeg...
(translated: And Then I Drown) by Ditte Wiese, a YA novel that was unpublished at the time.
Litteratursiden describes the book as:
"A gripping novel about perfectionism, anxiety, and the weight of expectations. 18-year-old Josephine has planned everything—grades, boyfriend, future—but cracks start to show. Fueled by to-do lists and beta-blockers, she struggles to stay afloat. Wiese delivers a raw and empathetic portrait of a generation under pressure."
The cover motif was created using the photographic printing process cyanotype, aiming to evoke the sensation of being underwater—out of control, submerged in chaos. The book cover is double-sided, and when unfolded, the back functions as a poster.
"I crumbled together and tried to stretch my legs
In an explosion, to get up
To the air. Air."
